Our Story
Custom Designed
Every Legacy Tackle Jig starts with a single design on a computer screen. We use 3D software and a 3D printer to create custom designs and then print master molds. After printing, we use high temperature silicone to create our molds for jig production. This tray is the original LT-GOLD-#4 master mold.
Presentation in fishing can mean the difference between just fishing and catching fish. Fishing with live bait is a time honored and one of the most sure ways to catch fish. This has been proven throughout the millennia. Fishing with worm or night crawler is still one of the most effective, grand-dad tested, ways to catch fresh water fish the world over.
We set out to create a jig that effectively held a natural live worm on to the shaft of a jig to maximize horizontal presentation to the fish. We found that conventional jigs work great for plastics but failed when fishing with worms, allowing the worm to slip off and slide down the hook. This shortcoming of today’s jigs is at the core of why we pursued creating our own.
Hand-Poured
Legacy Tackle Custom Jigs are made of Lead-Free Bismuth Alloy and quality Eagle Claw and Mustad hooks. Being lead-free makes these fishing jigs an awesome alternative to traditional lead weights.
Jig bait-holders are hand-bent and made of dulcimer string spring steel wire for maximum strength, longevity and bait-hold. Each jig is hand-poured and inspected to meet our standard right after production.
Over many years and many modified jigs later, Legacy Tackle Jigs were fashioned with a weight and shaft that features the bait-holder protruding out from the shaft, in a way to allow a natural worm to be snugly pinned to the weight in the front. These jigs were designed for a no-nonsense, natural worm style fishing experience that attracts all types of types of panfish. Legacy Tackle Custom Gigs can work nicely with some plastics baits as well, giving you a quick option to switch up live and artificial baits on the fly.

Small Batch
Keeping a small batch approach to our operation allows us to make updates and improvements to our product quickly and efficiently. Each jig is special and was put together by hand, tried and trued over years of perch fishing and now available to panfish anglers. We're really excited to tweak, modify and expand our line of jigs as our business grows.
